Projects:
To effectively implement projects, Wisuvie SHG actively involves the beneficiaries as well as the community members in project implementation and evaluation.
Since our inception,with the help of the community and development partners such as UNICEF, National AIDS Control Council (NACC), Post Bank-Kenya, Ministry of Agriculture-Kenya, PEPFAR (VAST) Poverty Eradication Network (PEN), AMREF Zingatia Maisha Project, we have achieved the following:
- Given continued support and care (provision of food, school uniform, medication, shelter) to orphans and vulnerable children
- Formed 19 HIV/AIDS awareness clubs in primary and secondary schools in Kangundo constituency.
- Started a vocational training center for orphans.
- Conducted community outreach sessions, reaching community with A.B.C messages.
- Trained HIV/AIDS peer educators.
- Initiated poverty alleviation and horticultural projects aimed at uplifting the social well-being of group members, Orphans and Vulnerable
Children (OVC) and People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA)
- Provide uniforms, books and pay fees for 12 OVCs in secondary schools as well as Wisuvie skills training school;
- Train 30 grandmothers on issues related to their grandchildren's HIV/AIDS ARV Adherence, Disclosure, Nutrition, and Home-Based Care; Assist the grandmothers to create a Support Group;
- Initiate Amaranth seed-planting activities to provide food to meet the orphans' nutritional needs.
